Point-Cloud Processing
A point cloud isn't a deliverable until it's processed. PRECISE builds for both ends of that pipeline.
From the moment a PRECISE scanner captures LiDAR geometry and imagery, that data is synchronized, colorized, and structured to move through classification, registration, and export into GIS, CAD, BIM, or whatever pipeline your project already runs.
How It Works
From Raw Capture to Production-Ready Data
A point cloud that's merely "captured" isn't automatically usable. Getting from a raw scan to a production-ready deliverable involves several distinct stages, and PRECISE's scanners are built to carry data through as much of that pipeline as possible before it ever reaches a desktop.
Synchronized Capture
LiDAR geometry, camera imagery, trajectory/pose data, and (where equipped) RTK coordinates are captured from sensors running in sync, sharing the same timestamp and reference frame. This means color, intensity, and geometry data align without a separate manual registration step after the fact; the alignment happens at capture time, not in post-processing.
Real-Time Colorization
True-color point cloud rendering happens during the scan itself, not as a separate pass afterward. That means the data is export-ready for initial review as soon as the scan ends, rather than requiring a dedicated colorization step before anyone can look at the result.
Classification, Registration & Feature Extraction
For projects that need more than a colored point cloud, dedicated processing software takes the exported data through classification (sorting points by what they represent), registration (combining multiple scans into one consistent dataset), and feature extraction (identifying specific objects or measurements within the cloud).
Format Conversion for Downstream Tools
The final step converts processed data into the specific file formats that GIS, CAD, BIM, and other production software expect, so the output isn't just accurate, it's usable in the tools a project already runs on.

PRECISE S7
S7 pairs its MLF-SLAM capture with Process Pro, an intelligent 3D feature-extraction and analysis platform built for mobile LiDAR point cloud and imagery data. Process Pro carries S7's output through classification, registration, feature extraction, and format conversion, covering surveying and mapping, architectural drawing, 3D topographic mapping, road/rail inspection, urban forestry surveys, digital twin development, and HD map production.
A single S7 scan can output:
- +Colored point cloud: LAS, LiDATA
- +Mesh: LOD-OSGB
- +Panoramic imagery: imglist + JPG
- +3D Gaussian Splatting: lisplat, PLY
For specialized project needs, deeper professional modules are available separately, for example the LiDAR360 forestry toolset, which processes handheld forest-stand scans to extract tree count, individual tree position, tree height, crown width, diameter at breast height (DBH), and species.

PRECISE S2
S2 includes a full-featured point cloud processing application at no extra cost (covering viewing, basic rendering, basic measurement, replay, editing, and export in standard formats), built for straightforward jobs that can go from field capture to a usable point cloud the same day. Dual 1-inch CMOS image sensors (16 MP per lens) capture color imagery synchronized to the LiDAR and IMU at microsecond-level timing, so what's streamed and exported is already colorized, true-color data, not a lower-fidelity preview requiring later processing.
For projects that need to go further, S2's raw scan and imagery data are also accessible, so teams can run their own mesh modeling, 3D Gaussian Splatting reconstruction, or custom SLAM pipeline instead of being limited to the bundled software.

Common Questions
Real-time colorization happens during the scan: the point cloud already shows true color as soon as capture ends, so there's an immediately reviewable result. Full processing (classification, registration, feature extraction, format conversion) is a separate step that structures and refines that colorized data into a production-ready deliverable: sorting points, merging multiple scans, and exporting to the specific formats a GIS/CAD/BIM workflow requires.
S7's four output formats are listed above; S2 exports point clouds in standard formats designed for direct use in BIM and CAD platforms. Across both scanners, these are standard formats intended to integrate into mainstream GIS, CAD, and BIM workflows rather than a proprietary format requiring conversion.
Both scanners support either path. S7 pairs with Process Pro for a full processing pipeline, with additional modules like LiDAR360's forestry toolset available for specific project types. S2 includes its own processing app for straightforward jobs, but also exposes raw scan and imagery data so teams can run their own SLAM, mesh, or 3DGS pipeline through third-party software if that fits their workflow better.
It's the specialized module described above, used with S7 for forestry survey work. It's configured separately from the base scanning hardware and isn't part of the standard scan-to-point-cloud pipeline for other applications.
Both. Real-time colorization means a true-color point cloud is visible as soon as the scan ends, so you can confirm coverage before leaving. Deeper classification, registration, and feature extraction (the steps that produce a full production deliverable) typically happen afterward, through Process Pro (S7) or the included/third-party software of your choice (S2).
